I have a Huzzah 8266 Wifi board directly connected to the Feather TFT display (2.4") and it has been in service providing the Adafruit project Weather Station output for over a year. Today I noticed the screen had gone completely white. Hitting the reset button on the display or Huzzh didn't help - still stays white. I tried hooking it up to my PC to download the software again but the COM3 port doesn't show up and I can't download it. Does it sound like the Huzzh has gone toast on me? Is there anything I can do to revive it?
Thanks for any tips,
Jerry

It does sound like something related to the Huzzah, since you are no longer able to upload.
Just to verify the board - you are using this Feather?

Re: White screen of death?
Hello and thanks for the reply. Yes, that's the board I am using.
It's been a long time since I've worked with this system, if I reset the processor with the button, shouldn't it show some boot up info on the attached display?
I guess I can try a different Huzzah board but is there another way to debug it? It's been working fine - it seems to have just died while running. I was hoping the application code just got wiped out for some reason. However, I can't seem to reload it.
Thanks - Jerry

Re: White screen of death?
It'd be best to verify the current state of the Feather. So for now, just ignore the TFT and weather station code.
If the Feather can be removed from the TFT, do so. And remove any other items that may be attached to the GPIO pins. So it's just the Feather attached to the PC via a USB cable.
The Feather HUZZAH ESP8266 has a CP2104 USB to serial converter chip, which is what your PC should see. A COM port should show up regardless of any running sketch code. Is that much still working?
If so, try uploading a simple Blink example:

Re: White screen of death?
Carter,
Thank you very much for your support and help.
I don't know why I didn't think of separating the Huzzah and the display. Once I did that I was able to again communicate with the Huzzah and download the software back into it again. I was then able to connect the display and all was good again. Thank you very much for your help. I have my weather station display working once more. Much appreciated!
Kind regards,
Jerry
