Multiple DS18b20 with term strip

Post by brianp »

Hi all,

I'm looking for some suggestions on ways to cleanly multiplex multiple ds18b20 sensors at a terminal strip connected to a Raspberry Pi.

Currently I have 4 sensors connected on 1 side of a terminal strip with the pi connected on the other side. I'd like to add a few more sensors but am probably reaching the limit on how many twisted wires I can get under one screw on my terminal strip.

Is there a product that provides cleaner multiplexing by taking multiple signals on one side with a single output for the collection on the other side?

Brian

That is a lot of temperature sensors. What is the application?

You could use a Pi-Ez Connect Terminal Block Hat as there are both perf traces and terminal blocks for easy access.

Probably the best, but most time consuming option would be to create a custom HAT PCB so you have exactly the amount of terminal block capacity for your needs.I used to use JST 3-pin to convert the connectors to a standardized locking connector with orientation to avoid terminal block issues.

If you are not into that you could work with a Pi Plate Kit.
