PIR 189 faliure

Post by gliaman »

I received a motion sensor PIR 189 a couple of weeks ago and incorporated it into a device that plays a sound using the Adafruit Audio FX Sound Board + 2x2W Amp - WAV/OGG Trigger -16MB PID: 2217 via a trigger that is interfaced with a 2N2222 transistor. It worked great - until today. Today it began "sensing" motion continuously, even when the PIR was placed into a light tight box. I turned the sensitivity to the minimum with no change. It still signaled a motion when there was none. When the PIR was removed from the circuit, no triggers were received by the sound card and the sound card was quiet until manually triggered.

Can I exchange this device for a new working one?

Update: It's the battery power supply. The voltage from the rechargables fell low enough to affect the PIR without disabling the sound card. It's up and running again.
