USB On/Off Switch is no good
I purchased two of the USB on/off switches that are supposed to be an inline on / off switch for my USB project. When I plug in my Raspberry Pi Pico the data mode is not passed through to the computer. When I have the switch in the power off position, hold down the Pi button so I can load a new firmware and then turn on the switch the PC never sees the device in boot mode and does not open up the drive to copy the firmware too. I have to remove the on/off switch from the USB cable to do this. This makes the switch unusable in a Raspberry Pi development environment. The only reason I purchased these was in hopes that I would eliminate wear and tear on the USB port of the Pi by not having to remove / insert the USB cable every time I wanted to boot up and load new firmware. I would like to return these items.

Is this the switch you purchased?

This cable will also work with anything that has a MicroUSB port. This cable does not transfer data - so it's mostly just good for powering and charging devices - but adding an on/off switch to your power supply is a nice addition and one that we absolutely love clicking.

the description says we use it for adding a 'hard power switch' to a Raspberry Pi. but I can't use it for that as it won't allow boot mode. I suppose I just need to eat the expense.

The switch works as advertised, but you are welcome to return them for a refund as you require one that supports data traffic and not just power.

Please emaill [email protected] with this forum link and your invoice# to request a refund. The data lines are not connected through - this is a ground/5V power switch only!
