2.9" Flexible 296x128 Monochrome eInk/ ePaper display

Post by SLB22 »

Hello,

I just purchased the 2.9" Flexible 296x128 Monochrome eInk/ ePaper display but it does not light up or show any text as shown in the website. How can I have it display text? Am I missing a part? I am new to this technology so I really don't know the basics of this. Can you please explain how do I get this working?

Thanks.

Is this the display you are using?

If so, what main board are you using to drive the display? How is the display being connected?

Hello,

Yes, this is the display I have. I don’t have a main board to drive or connect the display. As I said, I’m new to this so I don’t know how it works. Can you let me know what do I need to get it to work in terms of parts and process and where to buy them?

Thanks.

That's just the bare display. To actually display something, you'll need a main controller board of some kind. There are tons of options.

You'll also need some way to connect the bare display to the main controller. For that, can use something like this:
https://www.adafruit.com/product/4224

An example setup is shown on the product page:

That is using a Feather main board with the eInk Breakout Friend linked above.

Something other than the Feather could be used for the main controller though. What main board is best to use is up to you. They all have various features and trade offs.

Thank you. Could you please send me a link to where can I buy the Feather main board you mention and to the instructions as per how to program the flexible display with the e-ink breakout friend?

The Feather being used on the eInk product page is the Feather M0 Adalogger:
https://www.adafruit.com/product/2796

The breakout adapter shown is same one linked above:
https://www.adafruit.com/product/4224

There is a general guide for eInk usage here:
