I just received a new Metro Mini. I'm using it in place of an Arduino Uno R3 due to its small size. I have loaded a sketch to the Arduino Uno R3 and everything runs great. I tried uploading the same sketch to the new Metro Mini and I get the message "Problem uploading to board. See https://support.arduino.CC/hc/en-us/sec ... 0033198200 for suggestions."
I see in the Metro Mini description that it has a bootloader installed already. Is there something else that I need to do or load to the Mini in order to be able to upload the Arduino sketch?
I'm new to the Metro Mini. Please let me know if I'm doing something wrong.

Just to check, do you have the original version?
https://www.adafruit.com/product/2590
Or the V2 version?
https://www.adafruit.com/product/5597
For either, you'll need to potentially install a driver for the CP210x chip on the board. See links at bottom of each product page.

Per the small plastic bag it came in, it says 2590.

Re: Metro Mini won't upload
Further question. I will try to download the drivers as you suggest for the 2590. Once I do that, are they overwritten by the sketch that I will install next?
Thanks for your help.

Re: Metro Mini won't upload
Nope. The drivers are needed on the host PC. The same machine that runs the Arduino IDE. They are needed so the PC will create a proper COM port when the Metro Mini is attached. The PC uploads sketches to the ATmega328P (the processor on the Metro Mini) *through* the CP2104. Without the drivers for the CP2104, a proper COM port is not created.

Re: Metro Mini won't upload
Thanks for your response. I downloaded and installed the FTDI driver with no problem. I cannot install the SiLab CP210x driver.
- CP210x Universal Windows Driver, V11.2.0: There is no executable file downloaded. Just info and system files.
- CP210x VCP Windows, V6.7: Downloads but won't install; says Can't complete-no drivers for my machine.
- CP210x Windows Drivers, V6.7.6: Same as for VCP Windows, V6.7 above.
- CP210x Windows Driver with Serial Enumerator, V6.7.6: Same as for VCP Windows, V6.7
I am running Windows 10. Can you please point me to either what I'm doing wrong or a site where I can get the CP210x driver that I need.
Thanks again for your help.

Re: Metro Mini won't upload
Note further that the FTDI driver I installed is the "VCP Driver" listed on the FTDI website.

Re: Metro Mini won't upload
What currently shows up under COM ports in Device Manager when you plug in the Metro Mini?
If possible, please upload a screenshot.

Re: Metro Mini won't upload
Got it!!! I see in the attached screenshot of com ports that the SiLab driver is loaded. I see that it is com port 6. I had failed to change to com port 6 in the arduino sketch page under tools. I switched to com port 6 and suddenly, suprise surprise, the sketch uploaded and the Metro Mini is now working fine.
Thanks for giving me the insights to figure this out. I have learned something important that I won't forget.
