Gamma Correcting?

Post by thisjustin417 »

Hello,

I recently posed a question about Neopixel strips having washed-out colors when compared to off-the-shelf lighting fixtures, particularly in the range of oranges and yellows. The particular product is Adafruit NeoPixel Digital RGB LED Strip - Black 60 LED - Product ID: 1461.

This is the thread in question: viewtopic.php?e=1&t=195305&view=unread#unread

Another poster (thanks, caitlinsdad) sent a link on gamma correcting (https://learn.adafruit.com/led-tricks-g ... /the-issue) which was very helpful. I suspect this is the issue I'm seeing. The link describes a method for gamma correcting by adjusting the Arduino code.

My follow-up question is: I won't be using Arduino to control the LED strips. Is there any method, such as a particular controller or Adafruit product, capable of gamma correcting LED strips (i.e. a hardware option, rather than coding it in)?

Thank you!

We do not have anything that implements gamma correction in hardware.
