LTC connection clarity!

Post by davidestevens »

could someone confirm to me which end of a chain the LTC active terminator should go? (this is a VL53L1X running over a long cable to a TCA9548A multiplexer, and then to an Arduino Micro). Is it -
At the distant sensor end of the long cable (3m ribbon cable)
or
At the multiplexer end of the cable?

(I ask as I currently have it at the sensor end of the cable, and it's not working!)

thanks

https://www.analog.com/media/en/technic ... 4311fa.pdf is the datasheet but it does not make it abundantly clear where the device is.

Hmm. The applications diagram in that document suggests to me that it should be at the sensor end of things (ie Device N), which is what i would expect (after all, both dmx and video clock are terminated at the end of a chain).
I've done a setup like this before (but with ribbon cable runs of 1m) with different ToF sensors (though ones that don't require the GPIO and XSHUT pins to be connected), and that works fine. Maybe I need shielded cable (ethernet cable?) for runs longer than a metre?
