Snap-action 5-Wire Block Connector (12-24 AWG) (Product ID: 874)

Post by franc »

Is it safe to use one of these to connect aluminum wire to copper wire? Also, is it safe to use one of these to connect more than 5 wires, (i.e. as many will fit, using each contact for multiple wires)?

As far as I can see the Wago connector is rated for copper only and is not designed for multiple connectors in each port.

So why does the picture show a partially stripped aluminum wire? Also, why does the datasheet say "for all wire types"?

If you're talking about the product picture then the wire is a tinned copper wire.

Thanks, but what about the datasheet? Also, how can you be sure of what's under the tinning?

Could you link to the datasheet you're reading?

-But not sure what "all wire types" means or if it allows connecting one "wire type" to another. Also, what is the danger for multiple connectors in a single port (assuming only one wire material in each port, e.g. 4 copper wires going into one port)?

Each port can take a different diameter wire from 12ga to 24ga but I don't think Wago intended to have more than one wire per port or different alloys. You might have luck asking at Wago's site
