Unable to get two Adafruit Hallowing MO to synchronize eye movements

Post by FatHam »

I have two Adafruit Hallowing MO boards hooked to together per the instructions in Synchronized Eyes with Two HalloWings document. The Spook_Eye_Human.UF2 file is loaded on both boards. I am using the hookup for two boards with two batteries (I2C) and the eyes still move about and blink randomly. Bought these as a Xmas present for my Wife who wants to build them into a large necklace.

How are you connecting the boards? A clear photo would help.

Did you remember the A2-Gnd jumper on one of the boards?

Did you try it with some of the UF2s on https://learn.adafruit.com/synchronized ... sy-recipes?

Did you add the jumper wire?

Keep in mind that you can use the 4-wire STEMMA cable instead of individual jumpers even with a dual battery configuration JUST CUT THE POWER WIRE at each connector and remove it (to avoid cut ends touching), using SDA, SCL, and GND. Using the STEMMA connectors will give you a better/more robust connection. You'll still need the A2-GND jumper.

In reply to the above: Yes, it is wired exactly as in the diagram. I also have tried the STEMMA cable route with no success. Is there a revised software to download that would get this to work?

Found my glaring error! I made the assumption that any of the eye files would work for synchronizing. NOT SO! Only the Cat's Eye and the Owl's Eye UF files work that way. I guess I will have to delve into the code and see if it is remotely possible to modify the other 'Eye' files to work.

Thanks to all who responded.
