Hello all,
Im using an Arduino Mega 2560 rev3 with an Adafruit MP3 Music maker shield, powered by a 9v 5amp ps. I'd like to also utilize the Vin and GND pin next to it to tap off for other power uses, but not easily done because the shield uses those. How can i tap off of those two without negatively impacting the shield?

Could you use the secondary row of pads on the shield?

Thats what I was wondering, i cant tell by the lines on the back of the PCB if both the ViN and the GND are connected to that 2nd row of pads.

In general, all those pins are connected 1:1 with the pins they parallel.
Probably easiest to see on the fab print here:
https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-mus ... nt-1956687 There's no trace visible for the GND pins because they are connected differently (via a ground plane).

great, thanks! As long as tapping off that 2nd row of pins for 5v, Vin and the two GNDs wont negatively affect the shield, that will work fine!
