recharging LiPoly battery with Feather 32u4Bluefruit LE and switch

Post by SGEDESIGNS »

Hi all. I researched this question and as of 2010, the answer was no. However, that was a different time, and a different Feather. So I'm asking, hoping things have changed, will the recharging circuit of this Feather (32u4Bluefruit LE) still work if a switch is added btwn the Feather and the LiPo battery?

I'm a newbie, and don't know all the proper symbols, but I've drawn a pictorial showing my intended circuit. I imagine that if it works at all, the pushbutton switch would have to be latched closed. But...if it's still true that recharging this way won't work, is there another alternative?
Thx!
Steve

That won't affect the charging at all. When the switch is closed, the battery is connected; when it's open it's as if there was no battery there. When the switch is closed (i.e. the battery is connected) connecting USB will charge the battery, and the battery will power the board when there is no USB connected. All feathers will work this way.

Without USB connected, the switch will function as a power switch, connecting and disconnecting the battery.

Well, that just makes my day...! Exactly what I wanted to happen.
Thanks Dave.
