USB Li-Ion VERY Hot

Post by alexfast8 »

First and foremost, apologies if this is the wrong foru
I'm doing a project with an Arduino MKR 1010 WiFi and I'm using a lithium battery to power the board. I just purchased this battery https://www.amazon.com/dp/B097BMTWJ4?re ... tails&th=1 and this charger to go with it https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E4WLX1K?ps ... ct_details.

However, when I plug that battery into the charger it gets EXTREMELY hot very quickly (when this happened I immediately unplugged the battery).

Any idea as to why?

I checked the charger schematics - and watched a tutorial - and my battery shouldnt be the problem.

As you can see comparing both pictures the polarity of the cables are reversed.
Unfortunately there is no standard and your combination simply does not play together.
You can change polarity by removing the contact pins and insert it differently again.
There is a small plastic fin on the connector. Bend it gently out with a needle. Then you can pull the contact out.
However this you should do BEFORE first test.
It may be the charger is broken now.
