Spy Camera for Raspberry Pi (1937) IR Filter Location Change

Post by vdadaft48 »

Hello,
I have been using this product for my project for some time. For my purposes, I need to remove the IR filter. I recently ordered some more and noticed the IR filter is now inside the main sensor housing, making safe removal challenging. Is there any way to either get the old version of this product or get it without the IR filter in the first place? Any guidance is much appreciated, thanks in advance.

We do not manufacture these and have no control over the design. You can try contacting the Raspberry Pi Foundation here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/contact/

I have contacted raspberry pi and they told me that they don't make it and I should talk to adafruit. How do I identify the actual manufacturer? ( Posting the same reply in the rpi forum).

Adafruit 1937 (https://www.adafruit.com/product/1937) is not an RPT product, so it's unlikely that they can help...

Looks like these are generic OV5647 cameras with many sources. Since the location of the IR filter is not part of the spec, individual manufacturers may implement it differently. If you look closely at your older cameras, there may be some manufacturer's marks indicating their origin.
