ESP32-S2 module range and footprint

Post by NeuroNerd »

Since the ESP32-S2-WROVER Module has a PCB antenna, is it good to use in a 2 story house (i.e. signal distance/through walls, etc).

Also, is there a schematic symbol and footprint for the module?

Thanks in advance for any help!

It depends on the number of competing radio signals in the same area, and the amount of radio-opaque or -refractive material between the devices at either end of the connection. If your phone can make a Wifi connection along the same path, there's a good chance that the ESP32-S2 will also be able to make a connection.

Not really. If you want to use one in a board design of your own, drop in a couple rows of 0.1" header and name the signals you plan to use appropriately.

Having a symbol with names like VIN, VBUS, and so on can be a real nuisance when you're trying to name your own signals throughout the rest of the circuit.
