How to mount OLED to case

Post by texasneal »

Hello,

I am working with one of the OLED displays and plan to secure it to the top half of my project's case. There is a cutout in my design that will be sized to fit the OLED display, and for it to work the OLED board has to sit flush up against the bottom of the enclosure. The problem I'm having is that once I solder the pins into the display, it won't sit flush against the bottom of the top enclosure so the display is inset (see attached picture).

I can trim down the solder joints and pins, but it's still not quite right. Has anyone come up against this before and what would the solution look like here? I'd really like the display to sit flush and the soldering to be clean.

Thank you!!!

Assuming the pin holes are on both sides and plated through, you could "flat solder" (my term I just made up) wires onto the non-screen side of the display. I.e. don't put the wire through the hole, just solder it flat on the pad.
