Powering QTPY 2040

Post by Octopus666 »

Hi I am trying power a qtpy 2040 with 2 series LiPo batteries. For the circuit board I am designing, can I use a buck converter to bring the ~7.4v to 3.3v and then input that to the 3.3v pin? It feels silly to drop it to 5 just to get dropped again to 3.3v

Using LiPos in series is frowned on. You not use a boost to go from from the ~3.7 to 5v? E.g. https://www.adafruit.com/product/2465 or https://www.adafruit.com/product/2030?

I am using the 2 batteries in series to power some high power leds through a buck converter. I thought that lithium in series was better so that you get even current through both. Either way, they are that way because I need the batt life and voltage.
