10.1" 1366x768 Display (Old Model) Green LED?

Post by asudem »

Greetings. It's been a while since I figured up my old LCD display but I've needed it once again. The "rattling thing" from the previous thread has mysteriously gone away, as I cannot seem to disassemble this thing without destroying it, however a new issue is occurring:

A mysterious green LED from behind the screen is on. I have no idea how to turn it off. On top of that, the menu for the screen is no longer navigable, as the "-" is not responsive to the menu. Outside of the menu, the "-" button can turn volume down, but other than that, I can not reset to factory default.

EDIT: I managed to activate a different menu than the default, it was grey and in the upper left corner of the screen, but I can't seem to activate it again. The menu had the factory default settings in it.

I forcefully pried open the unit to reveal no LED inside, but this appears to be a case of screen rot. Not surprising given that it was manufactured nearly 20 years ago!

Side note: The insides of this thing are a thing of horror and wonder. It's like the plastic shell was made first, and everything else was an afterthought.

EDIT: Since seemingly no images of this exist on google, hello from the past if you happen to find this thread!

EDIT2: Ah, doesn't that look familiar. I wonder if the secret menu is documented anywhere now that I know the board?
