DSO Nano v3 stuck on firmware upgrade screen

Post by emmby »

I received my new DSO Nano v3 from adafruit and followed the instructions to update the firmware. Unfortunately, the device is now stuck on the firmware upgrade screen.

I spent the last two weeks in conversations with Seeed support and they recommended I send the device to them for repair, but once they realized I purchased it from adafruit they said I would need to contact adafruit and let you know that it needs to be sent back for processing.

Here is my email thread with seeed support:

Hello.
I see that you purchased from adafruit, we can't process adafruit orders directly, can you ask adafruit to process this order? Tell them that seedstudio has checked the product and it needs to be sent back for processing.

Hi there, can I arrange for a replacement if we can't get this resolved?
This is a brand new device, I haven't even gotten to use it once yet, and
my project is blocked on having a working oscilloscope. We've now been
trying to get it to work for 10+ days.
Thank you,
Mike

I followed your instructions to try to downgrade to 3.29. It does not
appear to be working. When I put DFU_D329_VB_2M_SEEED_for_nano_v3.hex on
the drive, I get back DFU_D3~1.NOT. Both files attached.

No problem, thank you I will try it out. version is DSNANO v3.03A, the serial is XXX, the license is XXX,
and the reported firmware is 3.45D (although it won't start up beyond the
firmware upgrade page).

Hi,

Sorry I just came back from vacation, you can find all the documents at the bottom of this page.

I asked for your version number just to confirm what version of the device you have.

Thank you. Two questions:

1. Where can I find the files? The link didn't come through in your
email.
2. What do I need to do with my license number? I am unclear how to use
it with DS201.Unlock.V1.00.hex
Thank you,
Mike

Hi,

the BenF firmware v3.64 WILL NOT SAVE to the internal memory of the V3. If your V3 does not have an external card slot then you will not be able to save images or data.

Please try performing the following steps in order using Flash Loader Demo 8.
1. Bootloader downgrade to 3.29D
2. add my license number using DS201.Unlock.V1.00.hex (don't forget to write it down before refreshing the bootloader)
3. then continue flashing the 4.32 firmware
All the files you can find here.

I just tried using benf V364 also from
https://www.seeedstudio.com/DSO-Nano-v3.html. The V353_LIB.HEX turned into
a .RDY, but the V364_APP.HEX turned into V364_APP.ERR. There was no
obviously useful information in the file other than "This resource fork
intentionally left blank", but I've attached both files.

Thank you
Mike

Which version of dso nano v3 do you have? V4.32 only supports some versions of dso nano v3, please try using the firmware provided by benf

I tried to upgrade the firmware on my new DSO Nano v3, but it is now stuck
on the firmware upgrade screen.

1. I put my device in firmware upgrade mode by holding down the Down
button while powering it on, then I plugged it into my computer.
2. I went to https://www.seeedstudio.com/DSO-Nano-v3.html to download
the latest v4.32 firmware
3. I placed the 201V4_32.hex file on the DSO Nano usb drive as
instructed, and waited for it to be renamed to .rdy
4. I restarted the DSO Nano v3.

At this point, I expected it to boot up in oscilloscope mode, but it is
stuck in device firmware upgrade mode.

Here is a video of the process: XXX

What do I need to do to upgrade the firmware?

Thank you
Mike Burton
