Smaller Segger J-Link Adapter and Cable?

Post by TerenceD »

Hi! A few years back I purchased a Segger J-Link EDU Debugger from Adafruit for my hobby projects. Product ID 1369 here.

It's been an awesome debugger and I really appreciate I didn't have to fork over the full retail price for the professional version of the debugger.

In my current hobby project I have a small board with an MDBT40 BLE Module. This is Adafruit product ID 4076 here. I have the J-Link debugger hooked up to the MDBT40 just using 4 pins (VCC, GDN, SWCLK and SWDIO). It works great.

However, the J-Link debugger cable is big and has 20 pins where I only need 4 of the pins as mentioned above. You can see the 20 pin cable in the Adafruit product ID 1369 link above.

I'm having trouble finding two things:
  1. A 4 pin adapter to put on my board
  2. A 20 pin to 4 pin cable to hookup the J-Link debugger to the 4 pin adapter I put on my board
Any recommendations would be very much appreciated.

Just found the following:
  1. JTAG (2x10 2.54mm) to SWD (2x5 1.27mm) Cable Adapter Board
  2. SWD (2x5 1.27mm) Cable Breakout Board
Would be nice to just use a single cable and between the J-Link and my little board, but I suppose this will work.
