Bn0055 apparently DOA

Post by charlesglorioso »

I received a BN0055 yesterday. Order number 3037016-3998193219.
I am currently using what I believe is an identical unit, see pictures, with an Arduino Mega and bought the new unit in order to duplicate the Arduino device.
I soldered the pins onto the new unit, with one difference, the active pins down, rather than up as on my older unit. When I replaced the older unit onto the prototype board with the newer unit, I changed the jumpers as appropriate. The newer unit didn't work. I verified the jumpers and connections, replacing the new with the old, by adding additional jumpers and still using the newer ones. The older unit works fine, the newer one appears DOA.

Most likely a connection issue of some kind.

Try an I2C scan and see if the address at least shows up:

Well, I hate to admit it, but the I2C scanning code you suggested found both the older part I have and the newer part successfully.
I then tested with a BN0055 example and both parts seem to show orientation changes.

So, now I need to find my connection issues in my actual setup.

Thanks for the support.

Charles
