Hi all,
Does anyone have any tips on a clever way to create a hole to mount a USB socket? I'd rather not buy a panel mount socket, I just want to create a hole in some thin metal but can't think of a clean way to do it. A USB-shaped hole punch would be ideal if that exists.
Thanks in advance.

Re: USB Hole
There are panel punch tools with interchangeable dies for common connectors. But they are expensive tools.
A nibbler tool is handy for one-off types of projects. You just drill a hole, then use the tool to 'nibble' the edges into the right shape.

Re: USB Hole
I wanted to follow up on this to help out anyone who has the same question. I found that a nibbler was too big for creating a slit for a USB port to fit through. What worked beautifully was a hole punch for BANNED. I bought this little gadget from Etsy and the 3x10mm holes are a perfect size for a USB-C port. https://www.etsy.com/listing/716885942/ ... hole-punch
Hope this helps!
