Just received this item- but seems dead on arrival. No sign of life or lights from any pixels. Matrix portal 4745 connected fine- but display seems dead.
Any quick fix or does this require a return?

You have hooked it up correctly.
I see some green LEDs on the MatrixPortal M4 which looks good.
Were you able to enter bootloader and see the MATRIXBOOT drive? What code have you uploaded to the MatrixPortal?

Hi yes,
I was able to see the matrix boot drive, loaded the circuitpy - but still not even a sign of life from the display.
Followed this guide here:
https://github.com/metro-sign/dc-metro
All cables are connected properly. Very strange. Have never seen ever a flicker of any led.
Replacement display needed?

Can you confirm that you removed the protective tape on the two standoffs?
Let's have you try one of the Adafruit demos.
Network Connected RGB Matrix Clock
Weather Display Matrix
There are plenty others to choose from.

Thanks Mikey,
Yes - I can confirm that I have removed the covers. I have tried a couple of the other projects - Weather and Clock - same outcome with each. Can load everything ok onto the portal, but the display does not light up.
I still get two green lights on the matrix portal - and an intermittent double red flash next to the two green lights.

Last two things here before we start the replacement process.
Can you load this simpletest UF2 image for the MatrixPortal M4 + 64x32 Matrix.
https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-mat ... /downloads
What are plugging the MatrixPortal USB-C connector into for power? These panel can require up to 4A so make sure you are using a quality USB-C cable and USB-C power supply.

Mike,
The download URL has an error in it. It is repeated.

Re: Problem with 64x32 RGB LED Matrix - 4mm pitch[ID:2278]
Hello,
I actually had tried numerous cables and power sources to rule that out.
Interestingly, the simpletest UF2 image when loaded onto the board - actually worked!
From there, I reset the portal and was able to successfully load other images and get some of the other projects to work.
Very strange!
Anyway, all is working now. Thank you both for your help.
