right, i agree - the hardware SPI port doesnt depend on numbers, the board definition defines it for you - so you're better off using hardware SPI than bitbanging it. so dont pass in all those pins, just the DC and CS pins (which you correctly identified!)

The Metro ESP32-S2 and 2.8" TFT v2 boards arrived at my place over the weekend. I hooked them up yesterday with no hardware modifications and was able to make the ILI9341 graphictest code example display with only these changes. The ICSP jumpers must remain connected (default for shipping product).

Code: Select all

#define TFT_DC 14
#define TFT_CS 15
#define TFT_RST -1
My setup:
  • Arduino v2.0.4 (Ubuntu)
  • Board Manager ESP32 Arduino v2.0.7
  • SPI at version 2.0.0
  • Adafruit GFX Library at version 1.11.5
  • Adafruit BusIO at version 1.14.1
  • Wire at version 2.0.0
  • Adafruit ILI9341 at version 1.5.12

Code: Select all

/***************************************************
  This is our GFX example for the Adafruit ILI9341 Breakout and Shield
  ----> http://www.adafruit.com/products/1651

  Check out the links above for our tutorials and wiring diagrams
  These displays use SPI to communicate, 4 or 5 pins are required to
  interface (RST is optional)
