Sensors for measuring air pollution

Post by miguff »

Hello there,

My classmate and I are making a drone project to monitor the air pollution in different parts of the city at different altitudes. Currently we are planning to put a PM senor, a NOx sensor, a SO2 sensor, an O3 sensor, a CO sensor and last but not least a VOC sensor. We would like to create it with the hel of Raspberry pi and Arduino.

So my question is, what are the best sensors for our goal?

Thank you in advance :D

Adafruit PMSA003I Air Quality Breakout would be a more traditional device for measuring particulates.
PM1.0, PM2.5 and PM10.0 concentration in both standard & environmental units
Particulate matter per 0.1L air, categorized into 0.3um, 0.5um, 1.0um, 2.5um, 5.0um, and 10um size bins

For air pollution monitoring, some recommended sensors are the Plantower PMS5003 or PMS7003 for PM measurements, Alphasense NO2-B43F or NO2-B4 for NOx, City Technology 4CF or 7-Series for SO2, Aeroqual Series 200 or 300 for O3, Honeywell 3SM for CO, and SPEC Sensors VOC modules for VOC measurements.

When it comes to measuring air pollution, various sensors are available. They detect and quantify different types of pollutants in the air. Some common sensors include particulate matter (PM) sensors, gas sensors, air quality index (AQI) sensors, and meteorological sensors. These sensors provide valuable data on fine particles, gases, overall air quality, and meteorological conditions.
