Pi Video Looper not playing most flash drives.

Post by lubotk »

Hey guys,

Pi newbie here.

I'm trying to run a Raspberry Pi 3 for an event where multiple users will have to insert flash drives and watch the videos on them. Pi Video Looper seems to be the perfect tool for this, but so far I've only managed to make it work with one drive.

All the other drives I try to use do not provoke any reaction on insertion (when using the lite legacy OS) or provoke an user authentication prompt that's visible if you exit Pi Video Looper (when using the desktop legacy version).

I've tried:
1. Using different drives. As I mentioned only one of them has worked thus far.
2. Formatting the drives into NTFS, FAT32 and exFat.
3. Directly flashing an image from videolooper.de with Pi Imager.

It is very apparent that this is a mounting issue, that only happens with some drives, but I can't seem to understand anything beyond that.

There are some topics on this forum addressing the same or similar issue, but none of them have been helpful.

Thank you in advance!

Ok, update - it WAS the formatting of the drives.

I had to use diskpart on my PC and convert the flash drives to MBR partition style.
It all works like a charm now.

Hope this topic helps somebody one day.

Best regards,
