My apologies if this isn't the right forum, but this is a general question on a topic I assume we all have to deal with to some degree. Over the years I've added a lot of parts to my hoard, as I often over-buy for a project in case I need extra parts. I'm pretty good about grouping similar classes of items into bins together, but I'll often forget that I have component x, and wind up buying it again. Or, maybe this is my attention deficit issues, and most people don't have to deal with this issue. :)
I'm looking for suggestions on a fairly simple open source parts tracking DB. I just need to be able to add items, with tags or other category identifiers, assign them to container numbers, and have some sort of smart search, and a mobile-friendly UI wouldn't hurt. I don't need the inventory management system described in Makers, but I wouldn't complain if that existed.
What do y'all use to keep track of your personal stash of fiddly bits?
Open source inventory tracking software?
