I am currently printing this project on the 3D printer.
EPCOT Spaceship Earth with WLED and NeoPixels
I am buying the electronic bits now, and it calls for the
Adafruit QT Py ESP32 Pico - WiFi Dev Board with STEMMA QT - 8MB Flash 2MB PSRAM
They are out of stock. Is there a reasonable substitute for this board?

Re: EPCOT Spaceship Earth with WLED and NeoPixels
It looks like the EPCOT project only uses the ESP32's Wifi capability, so any ESP32 Qt Py should be a suitable replacement:

I'll double-check that with the project's creators to be sure.

Hello,
This project uses the WLED firmware which requires hardware with a ESP32 or ESP8266 chipset. Here are other supported boards from Adafruit. Alternatively, see the list of supported hardware on the WLED projects website:

Adafruit ESP32 V2 Feather

Adafruit Feather Huzzah ESP8266

Re: EPCOT Spaceship Earth with WLED and NeoPixels
How would you connect the BFF board to the other options you have noted (that work with WLED)?
I am now working on the Neopixel strings. First it asks me to solder two strings together and then cut at 85 lights.
Since this wire has no apparent insulation, I assume it is clearcoated and I should sand off the covering before soldering together.
Which end is the "beginning" and which is considered the "end".
Is there anything I should do to the wires where I "cut at 85 lights"? Just leave it hanging?

Re: EPCOT Spaceship Earth with WLED and NeoPixels
Hey there DigiDoc, came to the forum for some help on this same project. It looks like you're even farther than me so definitely interested in watching your progress. I am having issues just sourcing the right parts to order to start the build. Namely, the light string. In the project files it links to a silicon covered led set, or so it appears. And then further looking I can't seem to find what I can confirm are the right strands. Would you mind sharing a link as to what lights I should order? Would be much appreciated!
