CircuitPython and charging the battery

Post by Eswezey »

Hi, I'm doing a project with the CircuitPython and a 1200mah battery. The project is working with the usb cable plugged in. The battery appears to be dead. Thought it might charge with USB and battery connected to CircuitPython. Might this be true? It doesn't appear to be charging at all.

Very frustrating trying to find a charger for this type of connector, JST-PH2.0.

please tell us exactly which board and battery you are using.
maybe even make a photo of your setup!

i think this has noting to do with CircuitPython - as CP is only Software..
and Battery-charging is handled by a Hardware charging IC.

have you looked at / read
https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-cir ... ep-3039252
There is no built in battery charging (so that you can use Alkaline or Lithium batteries safely)
an external charger is available in the shop category ' Batteries / LiIon & LiPoly / Chargers'
for example https://www.adafruit.com/product/4410
and there is a tutorial / overview / guide for all the chargers at
https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-mic ... y-chargers

Also, make sure you have the slide switch set to on if using the battery.
