Display Charge

Is there any way I could modify this in order to display a charge level with LEDs? My reason for doing this would be in order to tell if I need to use new batteries. I would have a series that would go green, yellow, orange, then red. Is there any small logic board that would be able to get this information from the batteries and in turn display it this way? If so, how would I go about this?

Well, you could add a Trinket. Read the battery voltage with the analog input, and light LEDs accordingly. Be aware that alkaline batteries tend to maintain voltage until they are about 80% discharged, then the level falls fairly rapidly until they are fully discharged. So you won't get a linear discharge reading on your LEDs.
