complete kits update:

I have all the parts nicely bagged up and I finished programing the last of the ATmega's. I was really pushing to get them out this week but I am short on 2sk30a-o's, they are in the mail but not here yet. As soon as I get em tested and bagged we will be good to go.

I have ordered from James when he was on ebay and wanted a part after the sale, he sent it to me right away. I just decided to place a order with james for a kit and he got it in the mail right away and that included chip service! He is a straight up honest guy. Have no worries about ordering from James and his parts stock is top notch, his skills are professional. He also will answer your email in a timely manner with answers and true help. This I speak from experience.

Thanks for all your service and dedication to the x0xb0x, hang in there!
Sam

I ordered a kit from Willzyx and it arrived in Illinois in only five days (which included the weekend), plus I didn't have to pay any duty (maybe that's normal).

Everything was meticulously packaged and I've never seen such complete instructions for a kit. I bought the "blemished" version to save a few bucks (he said the main panel would be scratched), but it took me a minute before I could even find the ding, which is so insignificant it's not even worth mentioning. Rad.

Anyway, just wanted to give RESPECT to Willzyx. Amazing product and service for the money. Adafruit definitely found the right guy.

I also just ordered and received a kit from Willzyx. Ordered Sunday night and it arrived in Texas Thursday. I didn't have to pay any duty either. Very well packed, good documentation supplied, everything looks great so far.

Thanks James for the great service!

Ordered my 3 x0x's on tuesday, had them in my hand on the next tuesday.

Beautiful packaging, layers upon layers of protection, its good because the box was beat up from traveling around the world.

No duty.

Beautifully print build manuals, with metal binder and plastic clear covers on the front and back.
The first and last pages of the build manual are made out of high quality textured paper.

The build manual was very descriptive and complete with test methods that don't require a oscilloscope.

The headphone output clips when turning it all the way up, it seems the volume output was made to be set at around 75%.

At the end I was looking for a quick rundown of all the calibration that needs to be done periodically, but there was no overall calibration procedure, this would be nice to put in the very back of the build manual.
(found an online resource, but not complete, and not step by step. - http://www.ladyada.net/wiki/x0x/testing )

I am uncalibrated beyond the 5.33v due to the fact that i didn't have an external adjustable voltage source. The build manual mentioned that the calibration could be done after using the internal 2 and 3 voltage sources, but I didn't see a procedure to accomplish this. Same with the headphone amp...

Now I search the forums and other areas for info on completed x0x calibration method.

Soldering the ftdi usb chip was easy with a temp controlled fine point solder iron.

1 of 3 built.

Approx 2 days to build by an experienced EE, with no prior x0x build experience)

(at first i mixed up the dual pots, and had odd waveforms during testing, (until I noticed the pots were in fact quite different, a bit of desoldering to swap pots)

Willzyx +++ Nice job on the packaging, delivery, labeling, etc. (i only had 1 issue, the two SIP sockets were cut to 8 pin length, not 9. So I had to cannibalize one of them, and use my own supply of sip for the other, no big deal)

Clockloop - (Volts for test)You said you didn't have a 2 or 3 volt source to do some of the testing/calibration. Maybe these suggestions will help you and/or others...If you look in the guide's testing pages again you should see where you can use a watch battery 3volts(its in a side note and easy to miss) the battery and and cheap headphones or mono ear phone for doing one or more of those tests that help calibrate, I think. Of course this is not a method that gives results like oscilloscope calibration, but should get you voltage in better tune. Also see in the latter part of the manual where it references the TB303 and that you can use a standard keyboard to do some of the actual. I hope this is a help.

I made a post about my purchase from Willzyx music earlier and meant to follow that up by saying James really has been there for me 110% as I had a few problems comprehending some things. Instructions that I think I should have kept a bit more simple and James got me right on track. He is doing a outstanding job taking the x0xb0x project to a level where even more people can have a shot at building a x0xb0x and being successful. It can't be easy for him to put it all together so well and be the 24 hour customer support, but he does it and very well. He answers my email in 24 hours or sooner. I think his prices are very fair for all the support he gives the people who buy kits from him. Good luck to everyone on their builds and remember, take it slow, you don't have to finish it in a day! I just placed my order for the black panel version. I have built many kits so this should be fun and different (I am a ham radio operator and built a bunch of radio kits).

Looking forward to it!!
