DS3231 RTC Industrial vs Commercial temperature HELP

Post by sjgittins »

Purchased 4 of the DS3231 RTCs, and the data sheet shows two different versions, the commercial and the industrial. I need the industrial version in order to perform cold testing at up to -40C but adafruit doesn't carry different versions of the 3231 RTC, nor does the listing specify which version you will receive. Need help locating the 3231SN chip to swap onto the DS3231, or a new 3231 with the right industrial chip already installed. Alternatively, I need a suitable RTC that operates at very low temperatures. Thanks in advance!

Here's the chip you are looking for on Digikey.
Just make sure it's pin and software compatible.

You will need to replace the chip, but it's a big pitch, so you can probably do it with a normal iron. Hot air would make it a breeze, if you have it.

Unless otherwise specified, all of our boards are built with commercial-grade components. Industrial, automotive and other higher-spec rated components can be found at some of the larger electronics component suppliers such as Mouser and DigiKey.
