CLUE defective screen

Post by madpickle »

I was shipped a CLUE with a defective screen (on the right in the attached image). It appears to have contrast/brightness issues. Please advise.

Check the display connector on the back. Compare with https://cdn-shop.adafruit.com/970x728/4500-14.jpg. If it's not fully inserted or not straight, gentle pull out the black nub on either side (they won't come all the way out, but rather loosen), adjust the cable, and push them back in.

Posting a clear photo of the cable/connector won't hurt.

The connector looked fine; re-seated the connector for both devices anyway. Results are the same. Here is the back of the one that is failing.

It was worth a try.

Please email [email protected] with a link to this thread, your order number, and request the replacement of one CLUE.

In my previous post, I showed the first two of a 6 unit order. One of the two exhibited washed out BMPs. The other was fine.

I have now tested the remaining 4 CLUEs. 3 of these 4 show the same problem. That means of the whole batch 4 of 6 had this problem.

Below I am testing with the same Adafruit-provided BMP. Everything else is the same on each board.

Please advise.

Wow. I've let the ee team know. So ignore my previous instruction, and in stead email [email protected] with a link to this thread, your order number, and request the replacement of four CLUEs. Ask they they check them so you don't get more units with bad screens.

Are you in the US? We'd also like to get those back for testing if possible.

I am in the US, yes. I am happy to send them back. Do you have instructions for how to do so?

Excellent. Thanks!

OK, same general idea. Send an email to [email protected] and link them to this thread. Ask them for an RMA FORPHIL to have those 4 CLUEs returned.

Due to the nature of this issue, and how many CLUEs it seems to be affecting, it's probably best to wait on replacing for now. We'll know more once we get these back for testing. We'll replace once there's a resolution to the issue. But if you don't want to wait, you can request a refund when emailing support.

Thanks again, and sorry these are behaving like this :(
