Do I need a replacement?
I just got my Minty Boost V3 kit. When I try to place the first component, R5, it seems too wide for the holes on the circuit board, so I can't get it very close to the PCB. It looks bigger than the one in the instructions: Resistor too big?

Re: Resistor too big?
The IC socket is supposed to fit over this resistor. This larger resistor won't let that happen.
Can you post a photo of the other side of the board?

Thanks. The silk screen is a bt different than the on in the guide so I was wondering. You bought it from Adafruit?

Yep, I ordered it last week and just received it today.

Re: Resistor too big?
OK, that's annoying.
Please email [email protected] with a link to this thread, your order number, and explain the situation: the kit had "regular size" resistors instead of the smaller ones the board was designed for. They can either send you appropriate resistors or a new kit.
I'll also let appropriate people know that this might be an issue to look into. Thanks.

Re: Resistor too big?
I received the replacement but it also had the wrong resistor. I emailed support and they said they are out of stock and they refunded my order.
So now I've got two minty boost kits missing a resistor. Does anyone know the part number of the correct resistor? Should be 1/8W 3.3K Ohm 5% resistor. I'm guessing the correct size is 3.7 mm or around there.
I found the NTE EW233 online which seems to be what I'm looking for, just a lower tolerance at 2% instead of 5% and a little pricey at $4 for 6.

Re: Resistor too big?
You could always mount it from the other side of the board. Not idea but it should get it working. Are all the resistors the larger size?

I've sent a note to the EE people about this.

Re: Resistor too big?
Oh I should have checked the other ones too. Just checked. R1 and R3 seem like they are correct. R2 and R4 appear to be too large, although they might not be as big of an issue because nothing has to go on top of them.
I'm guessing the PCB won't fit in the tin if I put R5 on the bottom.

Re: Resistor too big?
You're probably right about the fit. This is frustrating and shouldn't be happening.
I bumped the issue further up the chain.

Re: Resistor too big?
FYI, I found the smaller size R5 resistors at a local store for pretty cheap. They didn't have the R2, R4 type of resistor, but I think I'll get started on the kit and see if the larger sized ones that came with it will work.

Re: Resistor too big?
I soldered everything and it works!
I haven't put it into the Altoids tin yet because I have to get my hands on some tin snips first.
Just wanted to let you know, it seems like the full amount of foam tape wasn't included in either kit I got. It has what appears to be a long strip about the right length for the battery holder, but no short strip for the circuit. Not a huge deal, I can probably use some of my own tape on the battery holder, just wanted to make Adafruit aware so anyone else who buys it in the future gets all the tape they need.
