Laser protection

Post by scottfthompson »

Hello, We are a theatre company, using at least one of these Clue boards in our next show. Pretty much the exact MIDI glove style with a few adjustments. This is for our laser Harp Dancer for us to capture a few more movements. What I am concerned about is these laser beams, from our laser harp. They are very powerful at 1watt X R,G, & B beams. We have already burnt many holes in our fabrics and ceiling testing it all out. It would be fantastic to keep the clue board close to where these laser beams can hit to utilize mostly the light sensor, and maybe proximity, colour or temperature triggers. Does anyone know if a 1 watt laser will melt, overheat, destroy the screen, or maybe even be just be too much light for these boards for this to be worth trying? We can of course tone it down and have it just read some of the mirrors and diffusers involved in the show further back, but before we start testing, and hopefully not wrecking any boards, I am curious of anyone who might have tried some similar laser work.

Thanks :)
