Permo-proto max current ?

HI !

Do someone know the max current the perma-proto breadboards (Small Mint Tin Size) can support ?

In one of my project I've 2A requirement (50W at 25V).

Will it support or burn ?

It shouldn't burn, but could get warm enough to cause long term problems. Over time the traces could delaminate from the substrate.

We suggest staying below 1A per row, though that's a conservative value. The traces between pads are 12mil, and the typical trace width for 1A is 10mil. That ignores the 70mil pads every 0.1" though, which should be suitable for 3.5A. We choose to stick to the lowest limit for safety's sake.

It's easy to adapt the boards for higher current though: you can bridge a pair of traces so they only carry 1A each, or you can solder a chunk of 24-gauge wire (phone wire) onto the trace between pads that need to carry more than 1A. The wire itself can carry 1.5A, and combined with the trace and solder will be good for well over 2A.
