Mounting Metro ESP32-S2?
If I want to mount my Metro ESP32-S2 on a breadboard or perfboard, what's the best way to do that? Do I need to desolder the headers or something? Thanks!

Short answer is to replace the female headers with stacking headers.
Long answer is that it's not quite that easy. The Arduino UNO designers had the brilliant idea to place the two sections of headers on the digital side a smidge less than the 2.54mm standard spacing. Visions of a shield monopoly? It's annoying when you want to make a custom shield out of a piece of perfboard. However it's close enough to the standard that, depending on the exact situation, you can force it to work. You won't be able to get the board to sit flush on a piece of perfboard; put some of those rubber feet on the bottom on the Metro to space them. The stacking header pins are long enough that it should be ok on a breadboard.

So just to make sure I understand: desolder the existing headers. Replace with stacking headers. Expect a wonky fit. Correct?
(All of which makes me wonder about leaving it alone and just getting a different ESP32 or similar since they’re inexpensive…any suggestions for a suitable replacement? WiFi and USB and 5V out needed, not so much with other bells & whistles.)

That's it.
A Feather if you need battery power/backup. A QtPy if it has enough I/O for your needs. There's a Feather model with an onboard TFT, and one with an onboard BME280.
