Happy to hear the SDA resistor helped your BNO's stability.
It's in the BNO055 FAQ, but Adafruit should make it an essential step.
The FAQ describes adding two unequal resistors. That works too. The resistor choice(s) depend somewhat on your bus capacitance. Neither arrangement fully eliminates the timing error. They merely reduce the timing error enough to make the project stable.
