Sound card with amplifiers - power voltage?

Post by gliaman »

Is there any problem running the sound card (PID2210) with 4 x alkaline aa batteries? The Learning System pamphlet is somewhat vague on this "... higher voltage alkalines may be a bit much for the board." How much is "a bit much"?

It is designed for 3v-5v power. As it says in the guide, you can use a 3x Alkaline pack which would give you 4.5v.

If you want to use a 4x pack, then you should use rechargeable cells which would give you 4.8v.

The FX Sound Board is rated for operation from 3.3V to 5.5V.

4X AA alkaline batteries put out slightly over 6V when fresh, which could damage or destroy the module. 3X AA would be fine.
