Connecting LED glasses driver board to computer - not working

Post by Bobbier »

I am stuck on how to get the ADABox020 LED glasses PCB to show up on my computer. I made sure I have a USB to USB-C data cable. I have power on. Cable is plugged into a USB data port. I have hit the reset button on the board. In File Explorer window I only see "C" and no other device or drive.

What other tricks do I need to do to get it to be visible? Or what the heck am I doing wrong???

File Explorer sometimes does not update when a new drive is discovered. Try pressing F5 to refresh. If that still doesn't show the new drive, try double clicking on "This PC".

Thank you for those tips. I tried "F5" and I tried double clicking "My PC" - no change. I attached an image to show what I see.

Disconnect the USB cable and Open Device Manager.
When you plug it back in, does Device Manager refresh its display?

Yes. The device manager refreshes and the is an audible be-boop when connecting and disconnecting.

That is a good sign. It is being recognized by the system. Can you determine which category in Device Manager it shows up as?

I finally found it, sort of, in "Control Panel>Hardware and Sound> Devices and Printers>Unspecified" - where do I go from here?

Looks like it is correctly identifying as a LED Glasses device. Have you tried uploading the test sketch from the guide?

I downloaded all the Arduino items and was able to copy the blinky light sketch and it appears to work. I was headed down the Circuit Python path. Given this was hard for me right now - should I follow along on Arduino or head over to Python?

And thank you for your help. I was getting frustrated.

The troubleshooting page covers some potential issues with recognizing the drive. Older versions of Windows and anti-virus software have been known to cause problems:

If that doesn't help, I can call in one of our CircuitPython experts to have a look.
