power button if using HAT

I am using the Adafruit RGB Matrix HAT + RTC for Raspberry Pi - Mini Kit in with a raspberry pi 4 to control the RGB Matrix panel. Can I wire up a simple power button to the HAT to turn the pi on/off ? I can't seem to find any documentation regarding this.

If you're not using the hat how do you plan to turn off the pi?

I usually just VNC into and run the command "sudo shutdown" -- but I am setting up a project where I want to add a power button -- to the HAT if possible...
