Just to be absolutely clear, the ESP32-S2 Feather I'm using is Adafruit's Product ID: 5000

I already wired up a Feather ESP32-S2, TPL5110, and battery exactly as you have it. It works. I'm not sure what's going on with yours. It looks like there's a board connected to the Feather. What is it? Have you tested with just the Feather?

The TPL5111 outputs a logic signal on ENout that goes high when the circuit is active. You're right in that there is a TPL5111 chip on both these boards. The "5110" uses the ENout to switch on a power FET which connects Vdd to DRV. Alas, the ENout signal isn't brought out to the header pins.

If you use the "TPL5111" board you wire ENout to the Feather's EN pin.

Comparing the schematic of what you have and what I tested with, the only difference is the TFT. The power circuitry is the same.

Could it be I have two bad TPL5110's? Wouldn't think so, but I'm running out of options. As I said, I had the same issue with a QT PY with a battery board attached.

The other device is a latching relay, but I've also tried with the Feather removed from the doubler.

I'm really at a loss, especially since it works for you. I double-checked BOTH of my TPL5110's and they're wired the same....correctly. With all humility I say I've designed/soldered/whatever hundreds of boards. As I said, I'm clueless and my project has come to a standstill.

This is a weird one. I'd like to see if anyone else in support has something to add.

Does Feather + Battery work without the TPL5110 in the middle?

At this point in time, I can only surmise it's a bad batch of TPL5110 boards. Unless the documentation about hook-up is wrong which is highly doubtful, I believe that's the only reasonable explanation.

I'd be willing to mail one of my boards somewhere to have it tested. Adafruit???

I can't see another cause. Please email [email protected] with a link to this thread, your order number, and request the replacement of two TPL5110 breakouts.

I received two replacement TPL5110 boards from Adafruit (many thanks). Before I start to solder them up, here's what I plan to do:

I’m using a Feather ESP32-S2 micro (Adafruit product ID: 5000)
Powering via a 6600 mAh Lithium Ion battery (Adafruit product ID: 353)
Using a TPL5110 (Adafruit product ID: 3435)
Powering Feather with female JST
--Red lead connected to DRV of TPL5110
--Black lead connected to GND of TPL5110
Battery connected with male JST
--Red lead connected to VDD of TPL5110
--Black lead connect to GND of TPL5110 (along with the black lead from the female JST)

Does anything above seen wrong or should I give it a try (again)?

Nope. No difference. Same result. Darn! I'd be happy to mail this to you to test on your own if you're willing.

OK. I'll get one of those Feathers. What is the product ID of the one you have?

Feather ESP32-S2, Adafruit Product ID: 5000

I would also suggest you get a current TPL5110, since the one you have works. Recall, I've tried this TPL5110 (actually, 3 of them) with a QT PY with the same phenomenon.
