I think I blew up my powerboostshield...

Post by Rosemarije »

Hello, I had a powerboostshield in use in a project, it worked perfectly fine.
I don't use it stacked on, but next to my project.
I only soldered power and ground wiring.
But then one day I did some maintenance to the project and it seemed as though I blew up the powerboost...
When I plug in a charged battery the blue 5v led lights up for a millisecond, then the red battery comes in for a millisecond and after that all lights are off. When I plug usb the yellow charging led lights up. But there is no power at the 5v pin.

So I ordered 2 new shields...
I tested them before soldering, they worked fine, but as soon I plugged them to a Arduino the same thing happened.
So I have wiring from 5v shield to 5v on my mega and ground to ground.
First I had 5Vin to 5Vin that didn't work.
But honestly, I don't remember what the wiring was like, the last time it worked...

I assume I'm doing something completely wrong, but I can't find out what!

I saw the 500c might be more in place here, but I ordered again the stacking shield because the 500c was out of stock ...
Please help me out!

Please post some photos showing all your soldering to the shields.

Also please post photos of the batteries you are using.

This is the latest shield, but can you just tell me, what should the wiring be like?

Assuming that the red wire is connected to 5v on the Arduino and the black wire to ground, that appears to be correct.

And if I had the 5v from the shield accidentally connected to the 5Vin on the board, would this blow up the shield?
What else could cause the behaviour I see now? (Blink blue 5v led, blink red low power and then nothing)

which 5v in on which board? Please post a photo or diagram of how you had things connected.
