JST-XH Connector kit

Post by EricB61 »

I just received my JST-XH connector kit I needed to complete a project I've been building, and I'm curious why it doesn't include enough female contacts to fit out the connectors provided, 280 required but only 200 included? Do you sell the female contacts separately?

You also includes 200 male pins that don't fit with anything in the kit. What's the point of that?

I'll check with supply. The description says there are only 200 of each male and female pins.

My point is it needs to have at least the 280 female contacts to complete all the female connectors in the kit. None of the male contacts fit any connector in the kit.

20 x 5 = 100
20 x 4 = 80
20 x 3 = 60
20 x 2 = 40
=280 total female contacts needed!

Can you post pictures of the pins and connectors that don't fit and explain what seems the problem is with fitting?

No.

I've searched the web. They come from the suppliers in china that way. Adafruit is just a reseller. Still, it's a poor way to treat a customer.

It would be nice if they could source additional female pins to make up the difference. Looks like the minimum purchase from JST is a roll of 8000. I don't think I'll ever need that many.

I'm thinking it's this one: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/det ... -6/1651063

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

But still, I paid $25 for a kit of parts that I can only use 80% of, and I have to pay an additional $3.40 plus tax and shipping from another source to use the rest.

That just ain't right.

So how do I get in touch with the folks at Adafruit to resolve this issue? They seem to have ZERO customer support.

OK, but we can refund the cost. Contact [email protected] with a link to this thread and they will get you a refund.

I contacted support. Their answer was:
"Hi Eric,

Thanks for the note. All available information is on the individual product page: https://www.adafruit.com/product/4423

If the item does not have all the pieces as noted on the product page, please let us know.

Thanks,
Adafruit Support, Zay"

The kit has everything noted on the product page. The problem is that 200 of the contacts are useless, and the number of proper contacts needed is not provided. I already used a number of the connectors in the kit before I noticed the disparity. While I would appreciate a refund, that doesn't fix the problem for me or for anyone else that purchases the product.

They have not replied to my further questions.
