Hi folks,
I recently ordered a pair of Hony wire strippers (PID 4747) with my Adafruit gadgets, and I’m having issues with them. I’ll set the strip length to, say, 10mm, butt the wire against the guide, and it strips but takes off a couple mm of wire with it — every time. If I put the wire back in and line where the insulation was stripped from, you can see how much wire is missing — plus it cuts into the installation wire it grips, no matter the tension. It also will not strip some wires — either it scrapes off some insulation or jumps away. Did I get a defective pair?
Thanks in advance,
Kyoshii

Thank you for the quality photos.
I see the bite marks in the wire. Is that the part you are concerned with?
What gauge wire are you using in these examples?

Re: Hony wire stripper issue
The bite marks are part of the concern; my biggest concern is that a chunk of wire is getting snapped off with the insulation. So if I set to 10mm, it strips 10mm, rips off 5mm of cable, and leaves 5mm exposed cable, plus the bite marks. I’m using 23AWG (scrap CAT6 conductors) — not sure what gauge the braided black wire is.

Have you tried adjusting the metal dial located in the top rear side of the strippers? That changes the pressure being applied to the wire.

Yes I have; it eventually loses grip as I loosen it and doesn’t pull the insulation off
