Hi, I'm looking at the 2.13 Monochrome E-Ink Bonnet and I was wondering if the board would be able to drive a 3 color e-ink display? Something like the Pimoroni Inky PHAT or the one on the 3 color feather wing. It looks like the 3 color feather wing uses the same driver chip (SSD1680) so I'm thinking it might be possible.
BTW I realize the replacement of the monochrome screen will be destructive to the screen, but the board should be OK.
Ultimately I'm after something like the E-Ink Bonnet, with buttons, but 3 color, or, like the inky phat, but with buttons

Re: Replacing the screen on a THINK INK
Hmm.. good question.
The Bonnet is mostly wired for an SPI connection with DATA/COMMAND signal, which is fairly common. The actual messages would be handled in software, so I'd guess it's okay at the physical signal level. You'd have to find a 3-color e-ink display with the same flex cable pinout as the one we use with the Bonnet, but IIRC those pinouts are fairly standard.
Removing the existing 2-color display shouldn't destroy it. We mount displays with an industrial double-sided tape, so some gentle prying with a thin, flat knife should pop it free.

Cool, thanks. Does the current library support 3 color screens?

Yep, we use it with our own 3-color displays:
