Raspberry Pi Zero W does not power on

Post by inwerds »

Hi, all.

I received my kit earlier this week:

Code: Select all

1 x Raspberry Pi Zero W[ID:3400] = $10.00
1 x Adafruit Raspberry Pi Zero Case[ID:3252] = $4.75
1 x 5V 2.5A Switching Power Supply with 20AWG MicroUSB Cable[ID:1995] =
$8.25
1 x SD/MicroSD Memory Card (8 GB SDHC)[ID:1294] = $9.95
And was up and running quickly with RPi OS Lite (installed via RPi Imager). Today, I unplugged the RPi to install it into the Adafruit case and two things happened.
  • 1. After putting it in the case, and plugging in the power from the supply listed above, the green LED on the RPi did not illuminate. I tried several different outlets and I tried different cables. It doesn't appear as though power is getting to the RPi
  • 2. Since the only thing that changed was that I put it into the case, I figured I would remove it and in doing so, the SD card got caught up on the case and broke.
Please LMK if you need photos or videos and/or if this is covered.
Thanks

ETA: this is a headless config.

Have you checked the power connector on the board? Did its connections to the board get damaged?

Can you apply power via the ground and 5v header pins? Either directly or through something like https://www.adafruit.com/product/3581.

From a visual inspection, everything looks "normal."

This is a $10 pi, so I'm unlikely to spend $8.50 on a workaround.

That's reasonable.

You can check these points: https://support.thepihut.com/hc/en-us/a ... -is-faulty
If nothing works, you can consider buying a pico next time:
