Hello,
I am having trouble getting the KA75330 to work with the ESP8266 Breakout. I am using in conjunction with your latest solar dc charger breakout and a 4700 uF capacitor.
1) The board will boot up fine in full sun if I do not have a battery plugged into the charger or if I use the physical reset button.
2) The board will run fine if plugged into a DC power source other than solar.
Here is what does not work:
1) If I plug a battery in, such as Adafruit’s 400 mah lipo battery to the dc charger board, after that battery is below cutoff point and then the sun comes out to charge it - it will not boot, even with the KA75330.
My question is simple: can someone share a fritzing diagram with me on how the KA75990 is supposed to work with the ESP8266 Breakout (not feather) and DC Charger from Adafruit?
I am not looking for a refund, just want this to work ;)
Thanks

Re: KA75330 and ESP8266 Breakout reset issues
Connect the KA75330 between BAT and GND, then connect its output pin to the ESP8266's EN pin.
The KA75330 will keep the ESP8266 shut off until the battery charges to 3.3V.

Re: KA75330 and ESP8266 Breakout reset issues
Thank you for the reply.
There is more information than that on the KA75330 page. And I have tried that config. And it doesn't work for me.
Has anyone on the team tried the parts config I am talking about? KA75330, ESP8266 breakout (not feather) and the DC Charger breakout with a 400mah lipo? Does it need an additional resistor or any additional components?
I have spent a bit of money with you guys, and I'm not planning on leaving as a customer. Would love to see an actual working circuit for this.

Post a photo showing your hardware and connections and we'll take a look. 800x600 images usually work best.

Thank you. All your connections look good.
As a sanity check, what voltage do you see between Vbat and GND?

4v plugged into DC power supply without battery attached
3.8v plugged into DC power supply with battery attached
2.8v battery only (battery is not fully charged) — this causes the MCU to repeatedly reset and brownout

Re: KA75330 and ESP8266 Breakout reset issues
I thought it might be a loose wire, so I remade the setup with a perfboard.
I see that it partially solves the problem. The KA75330 successfully shuts the MCU off at 3.29V, running on battery alone. This is an improvement.
BUT when I plug the unit back into the DC supply, even though I am reading 4.3V between Grnd and Vbatt, the MCU does not reset or come on.
The saga continues

Check the voltages on the KA75330's pins directly. There may be some kind of loss in the connection path.

Re: KA75330 and ESP8266 Breakout reset issues
Doesnt look like it; all measurements are the same on the component pins vs Mcu pins. Like I said I remade it with a perfboard (see photo above) and I still get the same problem.
I found more details though.
If the battery goes completely into shutoff, the unit will restart just fine when replugged into a DC supply.
But if the battery has some charge, when the unit is plugged back into a DC supply it will not restart.
Frustrating. Are you guys able to replicate?

Re: KA75330 and ESP8266 Breakout reset issues
No. In our experience, the KA75330 goes low when its input voltage is below 3.3V and goes high when the input is higher than 3.3V. There's a small amount of hysteresis to keep it from oscillating when the voltage is very close to 3.3V, but that's it.

If I dont reply, that was the issue.
