Rotary Switch Inquiry

Post by CYMotorsport »

Hello,

I spent a while searching your shop as well as the forum to ensure no one asked this and while normally I don't like asking broad questions like this, I'm at a loss. I am trying to recreate the rotary buttons circled yellow in the attached. I can find zero confirmation of what these switches are anywhere as they are technically proprietary to race teams. But does Adafruit offer anything that can get me close even if I have to 3d print parts to recreate it? I've bought many of your encoders but none that resemble this. I also included what I "think" it is which is something like a positional rotary switch? Thank you for your time.

Nick

The closest thing we have are these: https://www.adafruit.com/product/1082

Look for 'rotary thumbwheel switch'. Here's a couple that might be in the ballpark:

Bill,

Thanks for the quick response. super helpful - figured out through that URL it's some version of a rotary dip switch wheel. That got me thinking...

Why not your Mini 8-Way Rotary Selector Switch - SP8T (ID: 2925)?

I know it's out of stick and I'd have to craft up a clever knob but wouldn't each dial switch cycle through 1 of 8 digital outputs?

That could work if the form-factor fits into your design. Turning that on its side would require about 3/4" clearance to one side of the wheel for the body of the switch.
