NeoPixel compatibility

Post by Manifest3D »

I have a valentines day project I'm looking to use the Flexible Silicone Neon-like Skinny NeoPixel LED Strip and the NeoPixel RGB Neon-like LED Flex Strip with Silicone Tube for. Can these two work when wired together?

The operating voltages of these two products are different. One runs at 12V. The other one runs at 5V. So, these two strips cannot be wired together directly.

yes, I read the specs but was hoping I could still have them work on together on the sign I'm creating. It would look good aesthetically.

Also do you know how I would go about creating different lighting affects for these strips? I'm very new to this and thankful for your help. Do I have to program these strips or something?

The strips have different supply voltage requirements. But both work with TTL level signals, so you can control the two strips from the same microcontroller board.

If you search the Learning System for Neopixels, you will find plenty of examples of lighting effects.

There are lots more example projects out on the web too.
